CSSD is co-sponsoring a lecture by activist, performer, and scholar Dr. Salamishah Tillet on "Rape, Popular Culture, and Post-Racial America" on Tuesday, April 25th, from 6-8 p.m. in Low Library's Faculty Room. Tillet, president of the national nonprofit A Long Walk Home, discusses how old racial stereotypes continue to shape public perceptions of sexual assault victims and assailants by looking at recent high-profile cases, pop music videos, film, feminist and legal scholarship. The lecture is part of a series of events pertaining to Sexual Assault Awareness Month presented by Columbia Health.
