Simpreet Singh
Professor of Sociology, Boğaziçi University
Simpreet Singh is an Indian activist who since quitting his career as a successful engineer, has worked relentlessly on exposing housing scams and corruption in the city of Mumbai, where slum-dwellers are being evicted, in many cases unfairly, to make way for upmarket developments.
Simpreet is fighting to stop these land grabs, by using India's Right To Information laws. As part of his work with the Ghar Bachao Ghar Banao (GBGB) Movement, he persistently investigates alleged scams involving public land and environment violations. Simpreet is employed at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and he is a member of the National Alliance of the Peoples Movement (NAPM). He is also currently pursuing a Phd on Mumbai's slums.
